Thimphu Tshechu (7N/8D)

Description

One of the biggest festivals in the country is the Thimphu Tshechu. This festival is held in the capital city for three days. The Tshechu is witnessed by thousands of people, both local and tourists. The actual Tshechu is preceded by days and nights of prayer and rituals to invoke the gods. Mask dances like the Guru Tshengye (Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche), Shaw Shachi (Dance of the Stags) and many more are performed.

Itinerary

DAY 1: PARO – THIMPHU (55km)

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport
  • Meet the representatives from Bhutan Journeys.
  • Transfer to Thimphu (The Capital of Bhutan)2 hours drive.
  • Visit Iron Chain Bridge( An ancient craft work in the middle Ages)
  • Leisure time
  • Explore in Thimphu main street

DAY 2: THIMPHU VALLEY EXPLORATION

Visit following places of cultural interest:

  • National Memorial Chorten (Stupa)
  • Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue, 169ft)
  • Institute of Arts & Crafts school
  • Takin Enclosure
  • Tashi Cho Dzong- (Fortress of Glorious Religion)
  • Archery

Overnight: Hotel

DAY 3: THIMPHU – PARO

  • Transfer to Paro and visit Rinpung Dzong,” Heaps of Jewels”
  • Bhutanese Farmhouse to experience local living
  • Drukgyel Dzong (Victory Fortress).

DAY 4: PARO

  • Excursion hike to Taktsang (Tiger Nest) monastery
  • Kyichu Monastery,
  • Hot stone bath experience.

DAY 5: PARO DEPARTURE

  • Transfer to airport for your onward international flight
